How we validate sleep staging against the lab
Polysomnography, epoch-by-epoch agreement, and the numbers we are comfortable printing.
Every wearable claims to track sleep. Very few publish how well. This is how we test Nurnex, what the numbers mean, and where they fall short.
We run overnight polysomnography — the clinical gold standard — alongside the earring, and compare stage by stage in 30-second epochs. We report agreement per stage, not one flattering average, and we publish the confusion matrix.
REM and deep sleep are the hard ones for any wrist, finger or ear device. We are honest about that, and we are improving it with every model release.
